🌱 Origin & Story

Apple Yellow was bred by Gana Seed Co. Ltd. and earned the 2020 All-America Selections award in the Edible-Vegetable category — meaning it was trialed by independent judges across North America and outperformed the competition in real garden conditions. AAS winners aren't marketing fluff. They're tested blind, grown in the ground, and scored on flavor, yield, disease tolerance, and garden performance.

What makes Apple Yellow unusual is the combination of volume and quality. Under ideal conditions, a single plant can produce up to 1,000 fruits in a season. That number sounds absurd until you see it in person — the clusters are dense, the plant doesn't quit, and the fruit just keeps coming.

The shape is distinctive: small, round, with a dimpled bottom that genuinely resembles a miniature apple. The golden-yellow skin is attractive enough to make this a conversation piece at any farmers' market or dinner table.

🍴 Flavor & Fruit

Small fruits, roughly 1–2 oz each, golden yellow with that signature apple-shaped dimple at the blossom end. The flavor is sweet and bright — Brix readings around 8 put it in genuinely sweet territory for a tomato. There's a mild, fruity quality that kids and tomato-skeptics tend to love.

The skin is tender, the flesh is juicy, and the low acidity makes it easy to eat by the handful without that sharp bite some cherry types have. In a mixed bowl with red and dark varieties, Apple Yellow brings color and sweetness that ties everything together.

🍽️ In the Kitchen

Fresh: By the handful. Off the plant. In salads. On cheese boards. This is a snacking tomato first and foremost, and it excels at that job.

Roasted: Toss whole fruits with olive oil and herbs, roast at 400°F until they blister and burst. The sugars caramelize beautifully.

Preserved: Dehydrate them for intensely sweet dried tomatoes. Or halve, slow-roast, and freeze for winter — the golden color brightens any dish.

For Kids: Honest recommendation — if you're trying to get children to eat tomatoes, start here. The sweetness, the size, the color, and the fun apple shape do the work for you.
